Hill Station Holiday at Toran Hotel in Saputara
I visited Saputara with the Gujarat Tourism Board earlier this September, and it turned out to be a delightful hill station vacation that I’d like to repeat whenever I get the chance. The Adivasis (tribal people) who worship the snake impressions along the banks of the Sarpagana River on Holi refer to Saputara as the “Abode of Serpents,” hence the name. Apart from the name, Saputara is a well-developed hill station with all necessary amenities.
While Saputara’s beauty is enriched by temples, waterfalls, wildlife sanctuaries, a museum, a boat club, and a ropeway, Toran Hotel is a fine lodging amid a lush green landscape. I stayed here for three days, and it was a great way to spend my vacation amid the misty hills.

Toran Hotel Room
Nearby attractions include Step Garden and a resort called Toran Hill. I arrived late at night and was welcomed to a prompt check-in and a first-floor AC room with a balcony. Budget rooms without air conditioning are also available. Seventeen well-appointed rooms are available at Toran Hotel with amenities such as a wardrobe, TV with cable channels and tea/coffee maker, phone, wake-up service and an attached bathroom with hot/cold water.
They don’t have suites, but the deluxe rooms are spacious, clean, and offer awe-inspiring views of a misty-clad valley, even though there is almost no network or internet connectivity in the area. Breakfast service, daily housekeeping, a 24-hour front desk, power backup, a garden, and free parking are all available on-site.
It’s a perfect staycation for business and leisure travellers because of these amenities. Aside from that, the hospitality is outstanding, the staff is courteous, and everyone is committed to meeting all of the guests’ needs. Toran Hotel appealed to me because of its location, atmosphere, and gorgeous views. Most of Saputara’s landmarks are within walking distance, and the market is only a few minutes away.
Take morning treks to the Table point while you’re here to see spectacular views of Saputara bathed in natural sunlight and misty clouds.
