Why Fly SriLankan Airlines Business Class
Flying on SriLankan in business class is a comfortable, upscale experience that is topped off with warm, welcoming Sri Lankan hospitality. Beginning at the airport, the business class offers expedited check-in, priority immigration processing, and access to the business lounge. While returning from Colombo to Mumbai, I was given priority service at Silk Air and free entry to the Serendib Lounge at Bandaranaike International Airport. In Mumbai, I was invited to the Adani lounge. The SriLankan Airlines Lounge “Serendib” is a specially branded space for the airline’s most cherished premier passengers and is situated on the first floor of the departure area of BIA.
With 80 seats and 20 seats for dining, Serendib Lounge has an exquisite appearance and a laid-back atmosphere to meet the high demands of the modern business traveller. Business class is a world of privileges and in this article, I reveal to you the perks of flying business class with SriLankan Airlines UL 141 and UL 142. I’m sure we all agree that flying business class is usually always the better option than flying economy because business class quality differs widely between airlines depending on the features, services, and amenities that make it stand out.
I’ll list the things that are most important to me in this post, arranged from what I value most to least. However, let me start by saying that I am well aware that each of us has unique tastes, and that this sequence may differ from person to person. In light of the foregoing, I’ve listed below what, in my opinion, makes a SriLankan Airlines business class flight ideal.
Table of Contents
Privacy and Limited Seating
The seat is the most important aspect of business class, even though the world’s best first-class services can be extravagant. The idea is to rest well, so what qualities should a business class seat have? Well, I prefer to fly business class because it gives me direct access to the aisle without having to compromise on the views of the window seat. Both UL 141 and UL 142 offer an ideal level of privacy without feeling overly exposed to the aisle and being bumped by service goods.
With its accommodative seating options, SriLankan Airlines enables you to convert your seat to a recliner with plenty of leg space.
Premium Bedding
As I previously stated, business class is all about the comforts it brings, but what is a nice seat without a cosy pillow and blanket, right? Both UL 141 and 142 provide soft pillows and a soft blanket that isn’t too heated.
Personalised Attentive Service
I don’t mind how the service is delivered as long as the flight attendants are pleasant and seem like they want to be there for the passengers. I’m pleased with SriLankan Airlines’ UL 141 and 142 hands-off service, in which the crew only enters the cabin between meals when you push the call button. Just avoid giving passengers the impression that they are a hassle. Service that is warm and attentive makes a big difference.
Independent Air Nozzles
Although some airlines keep their cabins warm, everyone has a different preferred temperature, thus independent air nozzles can have a big impact on those who get hot easily. I find that they greatly improve my ability to sleep and let me relax well than on planes that don’t offer this service. Business and economy class UL 141 and 142 each have independent air nozzle services.
Delicious and Well-Presented Food
Who doesn’t enjoy a scrumptious meal, right? If airlines can master the fundamentals, it’s wonderful to feel as though you’re receiving a world-class dining-level experience. It was good to see that both UL 141 and UL 142 of SriLankan Airlines prioritise food that tastes decent for what it is in the first place. It’s fancy and yet it is done well.
My options on the set menu during my business class UL 142 flight from Mumbai to Colombo ranged from Chicken Malai Kebab croquettes to Masala Tawa fish with sides and a vegetarian meal that included Mysore Bada and other vegetarian kebabs. Each was served with a seasonal assortment of the finest fresh fruit plater. I had a choice of chicken malai kebab with a vegetable skewer, seafood pizza with leek pakora, vegetable-filled filo pastry with veggie pizza, and sides when I returned from Colombo to Mumbai.
For dessert, I was served a Vanilla Macaroon. The airlines have a special drinks menu for alcoholic beverages as well as a non-alcoholic menu for Ceylon tea and coffee, in addition to the meal selection. Besides, it’s convenient when airlines offer dine-on-demand in business class, allowing you to place orders whenever you choose. Business-class service should be personalised so that customers don’t feel like they’re on an assembly line; for instance, if a flight attendant notices a glass is empty, they should proactively offer a refill. SLA provides swift, effective service on short overnight flights so that passengers can get the most rest possible.
In-Flight Entertainment
I personally give more consideration to in-flight entertainment than Wi-Fi. I am aware that this is a crucial element, and SriLankan Airlines’ One World is the best choice for in-flight entertainment. One World also offers a range of films from different cultures throughout the world in a variety of languages to help you get started on your vacation even before you travel. They have the newest and best Hollywood films for your amusement. Then there are TV shows that feature the greatest in comedy, drama, the arts, sports, and children, giving you a glimpse into the rich Sri Lankan culture of native Sri Lanka.
If you enjoy music, close your eyes, relax, and let the music serenade you. You may hum the tunes and tap your toes to music from all around the world; as they offer everything from jazz to classical to global favourites. With BBC News Live, AccuWeather, and AFP Sports channels updated in flight, “Connected” enables you to remain up to current on the most recent news. A good map feature is what I value most in an in-flight entertainment system and with “My flight Route,” you may always know where you are while flying.
Fast Wi-Fi at a Fair Price
You can use your smartphone, laptop, or other smart devices when the LED sign is turned off. The in-flight Wi-Fi service is offered for purchase on SriLankan Airlines’ A330-300 and A320/321 Neo fleet so that you may stay productive while you’re in the air and respond to your emails, browse the internet, or communicate with your friends online just as you would do on the ground. You can dial the number to make a call, just like you would when utilising a roaming facility. Depending on your roaming package, your mobile service provider will charge you the fees.
Airlines are excellent cultural ambassadors for their homeland, so I always like it when they incorporate a little local flavour. The signature dress code, boarding music, signature menu items, etc. could all be examples of this. Given that both flights were short-haul, no amenity kits were offered, although SriLankan Airlines does offer a premium kit including toiletries and other goods on longer trips. The preceding list, roughly sorted, has the markers that I value most in a business class. That, ideally, provides some helpful insight into why I prefer some services over others. But that’s me! What qualities do you value most in business class and how does your list compare to mine?
