Wonders of South America: 10 Best Countries to Visit

When you think of South America, what comes to mind? Probably the iconic images of Machu Picchu and Iguazu Falls. But did you know that there are many smaller cities and towns full of explorers who love to explore their beauty? From Peru’s floating islands to Argentina’s wine country, these 10 destinations make for an unforgettable trip to South America.

South America

Peru

The Peruvian people are warm and welcoming, especially if you’re travelling with them. Peru is one of the most culturally diverse countries in Latin America. The country has a rich history, including ancient civilizations and Incan culture, which was once one of the world’s greatest civilizations before being conquered by Spain. You’ll also find that there are many similarities between Peru’s modern English-speaking population and its Spanish-speaking one—they both speak Spanish! Peru has great weather: hot summers and cool winters (though it rains often). There are many cities to visit as well as nature parks such as Machu Picchu where you can hike up an ancient Incan mountain peak surrounded by snowcapped peaks on either side!

Argentina

Argentina is a great place to visit. It has a lot of history and culture, many different types of terrain and food, as well as people from all over the world. Argentina is one of the most diverse countries in Latin America. There are eight provinces with their dialects and cultures: Santiago del Estero, La Pampa, Rio Negro; Buenos Aires province; Córdoba province (Andalusia); Tucumán province (Misiones); Catamarca & Salta Provinces – both located in Northern Patagonia region which borders Chile’s, Chubut Province).

Brazil

Brazil is a great place to visit and has a lot to offer. Brazil is a very diverse country that has a lot of rich culture and history, but it’s also known as a country of music, dance, art and fashion. The people are friendly and welcoming of visitors from around the world. You can enjoy beautiful beaches along with mouthwatering food while getting lost in the rainforest or experiencing one of Brazil’s many cultural festivals throughout the year!

Chile

Chile is a beautiful country. It’s also a good place to visit if you like hiking and wine. Chile has some of the best food in South America, but also some of the best wines too! If you love eating at fancy restaurants or just want to enjoy some good old home-cooked meals with family and friends then Chile is worth considering as one of your top destinations on this list.

The capital city Santiago is one of my favourite cities in Latin America because it has so much character—you’ll never feel like you’re in an impersonal hotel lobby when walking around downtown Santiago (or any other big city). There are tons of outdoor activities available here including rafting down rivers located just outside town; horseback riding through vineyards; exploring historical temples built hundreds of years ago by Spanish missionaries; hiking up volcanoes where locals gather every day for sunrise ceremonies before heading to work early morning hours…the list goes on!

Uruguay

If you’re looking for a place that is small, safe and has great beaches, Uruguay may be a perfect choice. The country is known for its laid-back atmosphere and friendly people. The capital city of Montevideo has many parks where visitors can relax or take part in outdoor activities like biking or hiking. Uruguay is also known for its excellent food offerings from all over Latin America (think Choripan sandwiches). And don’t forget about its famous beaches—you won’t want to miss them!

Paraguay

Paraguay is a landlocked country in South America. It is one of the best places to visit in South America and has a rich history, a great climate and a variety of landscapes. Paraguay has an area of 238 812 square kilometres (92 548 square miles) with a population estimated at 6 million people as per 2012 census data. The capital city Asuncion has 2 million inhabitants while Ciudad del Este has over 200 000 people living there.

Ecuador

In Ecuador, you can explore the Cotopaxi volcano and go on a hike through the Galapagos Islands. You’ll also find yourself in one of the world’s most biodiverse rainforests, where some unique species would be hard to find anywhere else. The Andes Mountains are another great addition because they’re home to many animal species as well as beautiful landscapes like those seen here in Quito. The Otavalo Market is one of my favourite things about Ecuador—it’s filled with tons of tasty foods made by local artisans using local ingredients (and some imported ones). There are lots of other markets around town as well—you’ll find them all over Quito!

Colombia

Colombia is a country that has a rich history and culture. The country was founded by the Spanish, but it has been inhabited by many different groups of people since then. It’s known for its coffee shops and beautiful beaches, but it also has numerous natural parks and reserves where you can go hiking or horseback riding. Colombia is home to some of South America’s most famous destinations: Cartagena de Indias (the Old City), Bogota (the capital city), Medellín (the second largest city in Colombia), Cali (a major tourist destination), Santa Marta on the Caribbean coast near Venezuela; all these cities offer something different from each other so there are plenty of things to do while visiting this part of South America!

Venezuela

Venezuela is a beautiful country with a rich history, and it can be hard to believe that it’s only been around since 1811. The first Spanish colony in South America, it was once one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. Today, Venezuela is known for its great beaches and incredible music scene—and there are many other attractions as well! Venezuela has a rich history of art that dates back thousands of years. The indigenous people who lived here created many amazing pieces before Europeans arrived (like cave paintings). Today you’ll find museums showcasing these works at places like Caracas’ Museo del Oro (Museum Of Gold) or La Sala Altos del Parque Central in Maracaibo.

Bolivia

Bolivia is a landlocked country in South America. It’s the poorest country in South America and one of the most rural, but it’s also home to some of the world’s best white water rafting and mountain biking. La Paz, Bolivia’s capital city, is a popular tourist destination because it has beautiful colonial architecture along its main square (Plaza San Francisco). The city also has plenty of museums including Museo Arqueológico Boliviano (Parque T’anantani), which features exhibits on local archaeology as well as pre-Columbian cultures like Moche and Chimú; Museo de Sitio de Tiwanaku (Potosí); Museo de Historia Natural de La Paz; Museo del Oro; Museo del Cultivo del Arroz y Alimentos en Oruro Departamento Orinoqué – Huayllpas Departmental Museum – Huallatagua District Museum – San Pedro District Museum.

South America is a great place to visit. There are many countries, each with unique characteristics that make them worth visiting. The best time to visit is between December and March when it’s warm and sunny. South America is home to some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world, including beautiful beaches, dense rainforests and even snow-capped mountains! South America has a lot of fun things to do, and it’s a great place to visit if you want to experience the culture and lifestyle of this part of the world.
