Things To Consider Before Buying SHIUV Germiwand
As the pandemic spread around the globe, hell broke loose, and the world collectively recognised the need for a significant change in personal hygiene habits. Indeed, India is experiencing a great health revolution. As soon as the Indian governments lifted the lockdown, crowds began to advocate liquid sanitisers, while businesses began to seek refuge in UV sanitiser. The internet has been inundated with a swarm of different sanitising tools. It can be used for both personal and commercial purposes. Harsh Shah, the founder of SHIUV Germiwand, contacted me around the same time.
He runs a small manufacturing facility in Gujarat that makes UV sticks for quick sanitization. Shah, a small business owner, asked me to try the product and leave feedback on Instagram in exchange. He claimed he was just getting started and didn’t have enough money to advertise. This is an innovation that I believe people are in desperate need of right now. Why don’t you spread the word, even if you’re on welfare?

Great Packaging But NO User Manual
Harsh sent me two Germiwand UV sticks as a thank you for my decision. He claimed they were each worth INR 3500. The courier arrived in nearly four or five days, and both UV sticks were securely packaged, much to my delight. There is no wear and tear, none at all! I sanitised a lot of things in my house over the next two days. Mostly for the sake of photography. Even though I had no idea how long I had to sanitise them. I wish SHIUV had included a manual that explained how to use the product and for how long.
After the product shoot, I spent an hour researching how this thing works on the internet. There are numerous videos available. While browsing, I came across several USB-powered UV stick sanitisers. That’ll come in handy! Germiwand is only semi-portable because it requires a plug point to function. It does, however, come with a long wire.
Is There a Product Warranty?
As soon as I shared the post on Instagram, a few of the people who were interested contacted me to inquire about the product’s warranty. They were sceptical because SHIUV is a relatively new brand. This made me suspicious because the UV sticks I received lacked not only a manual but also a warranty card. I contacted Harsh to inquire about the warranty (if the product had one), to which he casually replied, “Yes 1-year unconditional warranty.”
A few people responded, expressing gratitude for the INR 1000 discount. It took me a few days to figure out that SHIUV had messaged everyone who had left a comment on the brand post. Despite the attractive discount, I couldn’t help but consider the product’s actual cost “Not a bad product for INR 2500 with a 1-year unconditional warranty, I reasoned.”
Evaluation over a Month
With its ability to clean all surfaces, Germiwand made my life a lot easier, especially those that can’t or shouldn’t be cleaned with a liquid sanitiser. These SHIUV UV sticks are long, sleek, and come in a classic black colour. The GERMIWAND, according to SHIUV, kills 99.99 per cent of germs and viruses. It is safe to use on eatables, digital devices, currencies, clothing, and almost any other surface. It’s simple to use: simply wave the wand over the object of your choice for about a minute. Keep it close to the object and slowly wave it around. After each scroll, turn off the I/O button.
Repeat with the object turned upside down. The germicidal component works by deactivating the DNA of bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens, preventing them from multiplying and causing disease. GermiWand uses powerful UVC light to sterilise any surface, killing up to 99 per cent of germs, micro bacteria, and the COVID-19 strain. This product is simple to use and saves a lot of time. Furthermore, unlike chemical disinfectants, it does not leave a toxic residue or emits a foul odour.
However, make sure that no part of your body is exposed to UV light at all times, or it could cause irreversible damage. When using this UV stick, I strongly advise you to wear goggles and gloves.
Return Hassles
On the 20th day, however, the UV lights began to flicker when I tried turning the I/O button on the back end of one of the sticks. I had to turn it on and off several times before the UV light was fully restored. This continued for a few days before I decided to contact Harsh and ask for a replacement product. “Oh you are the first person to be complaining about the product,” he retorted when I explained my problem to him as a consumer. “Can you provide data to support this statement?” I wanted to say.
I have no idea if one or a hundred people have had the same issue. There is no genuine feedback to refer to because you don’t sell your product through any reliable product.” Instead, I asked him to replace this one stick because it was still under warranty. It’s worth noting that the other stick is perfectly functional. Over the next few days, I spent my time playing Esconde-Esconde via email. Harsh made the decision to send a replacement product. To do so, he required that I return the damaged product to him at his Gujarat address. Instead, I asked him to arrange a pick-up, just like I would with Amazon.
SHIUV did not arrange for a pick-up. As a result, I decided to have a local electrician examine the UV stick. He tightened the loose wire, and the stick now works perfectly. Finally, the quality of the product and the after-sales service are what distinguishes a good brand from a bad one. Based on my personal experience, I would only recommend purchasing Germiwand if it is available on Amazon or another comparable e-commerce site. After you’ve read enough reviews and are convinced that this UV sanitiser is worthwhile, that is.
On Amazon, I noticed a lot of branded, USB-enabled, UV sticks in the same price range. I suggest you buy one of those.
