An Unforgettable Stay at Quality Hotel Expo in Fornebu
Adjoining Oslo, is a peninsular district of Bærum, Fornebu, in Norway. Until 1998, Oslo Airport operated from Fornebu, making this a preferred stop for frequent travellers. Ever since the airport has shifted to Gardermoen, Fornebu has become the new countryside. I instantly fell in love with the peaceful neighbourhood as the rental car drove past the posh private-residences of Snarøya and Langodden. The reason why I chose to stay at the Quality Hotel Expo was Fornebukta Fjord, an inlet of crystal blue waters. Quality Hotel Expo overlooks the unadulterated Fornebukta Fjord from its rooftop and a selection of rooms. Staying here truly transformed my Norwegian vacation into the utmost leisure.
It was 2 PM when I had ploddingly arrived at this beautiful hotel. From the moment I entered to the time I left, I couldn’t stop ‘rhapsodising’ over the property’s landscaped gardens and the majestic fjord views. Loafing across acres, Quality Hotel Expo is a four-star Nordic hotel featuring five-star amenities in a green setup. Nature’s cape it wears, masks all distress and allows one to relax in a natural mien.
The holiday begins at the spacious well-designed waiting lounge at the entrance. Check-in is prompt, the staff is polite and the ambience very pleasant. After the check-in, I approached the gated glass to get to my room. This checkpoint isolates residents as you can only get past this point if you have a digital room key. Having said that the Quality Hotel Expo has nearly 301 spacious rooms, with a select few facing the Fjord. Do tell the reservation desk to allot you a Fjord view room, if available.
My fjord view room with an en suite washroom starred contemporary decor and surpassing views. It came equipped, with complimentary Wi-Fi, minibar, iron board, hairdryer, flat-screen TV, additional seating, work desk, and a super comfy bed. ‘Truly my best bet in Fornebu!
Quality Hotel Expo is wrapped in the redolence of fresh fjord breeze and open skies, making it an extraordinary property, for long walks and cycling. The hotel even offers complimentary bike rental services to its guests. If you want to get sunkissed then hit the sundeck. While here I also chanced upon the hotel’s food which is mostly a combination of continental and Norwegian specialities. My personal favourites were the variety of cheese, pickled Herring, Norwegian fish, and cold meats served at the ‘Brasserie X’ restaurant.
All in all, a fabulous property for €200 (or above). The only drawback is that no room service is included, in that price. What makes up for the loss, however, is the hospitality and a prolific range of designer decor that tempts you to move around the hotel a lot. To unwind, take a cool-dip in the pool or book a spa session for rejuvenating skin treatment.
