Masjid Besar Al-Hidayah in Bali
Tabanan Regency of the Baturiti District is a two-hour drive from Kuta. It’s a popular neighbourhood because of Bali’s most famous temple, Ulun Danu Beratan. On my way to this temple, I came across one of the most beautiful mosques I’d ever seen in Bali. The Great Mosque of al-Hidayah, Masjid Besar Al-Hidayah, stands proudly in Candikuning Village. Because its outermost walls are decked with scintillating golden carvings, locals refer to it as the Yellow Temple Mosque. This striking piece is set against a soft pink backdrop that extends to the roof’s blue mosaicked domes.
The pink periphery walls are framed by white arched frameworks. “We can understand the area of the lake containing Ulun Danu Beratan Temple from the mosque terrace,” my guide said quickly. The mosque’s stairwell is quite steep. Visitors can use the Gazebos on either side of the mosque to take a look around. A large courtyard is in the heart of the building. The Great Mosque of al-Hidayah Bedugul stands out because it was built in collaboration with Hindus in Bali. As a result, the Ministry of Religion ranked Al-Hidayah Mosque in the Middle East second in 2016.
The Muslim residents of this area are mostly from Lombok. Lombok was once a part of the Gelgel kingdom, which was later conquered by the Karangasem kingdom. Two ancient tombs, both believed to be the graves of past Islamic figures, are located near the mosque. Sheikh Husein’s grave is on the slopes, while Sheikh Hasan’s is at the top of the mountains. These tombs are looked after by both Hindus and Muslims. Ulun Danu Beratan Temple also has a view of this magnificent mosque.
Aside from the mosque, there are numerous shops selling one-of-a-kind souvenirs. Balinese prayer mats, Mukena, sarongs, and other items are among them. It’s a lovely mosque that deserves to be seen.
