Gits: The brand that introduced Instant Mixes to India
I’m sure you remember praising GITS classic ads if you’re a GenXer. GITS has a history dating back to 1963 when it was the first company in India to establish the concept of instant mixes. It was a first-of-its-kind launch, focusing on the packaged food category. Just by gazing at the Gits funny prints commercials, everyone longed for a crunchy Jalebi or an instant soup. As I received a gorgeous Diwali gift basket from GITS today, the very nostalgia’ struck me. GITS was founded by HZ Gilani and AK Tejani, and a lot has changed since then. The brand’s name is derived after its founder’s surnames.
GITS was expanded to PAN-India and over 40 countries by the second-generation RH Gilani and MA Tejani. At the moment, the third generation is led by Sahil Gilani, Samana, and Aasiya Tejani, who is gaining popularity by breaking into new categories. GITS’ quick mixes and ready-to-eat dishes are all prepared with natural ingredients and taste excellent till the very last mouthful. Here are a few of the things I’ve tried.

Gits 1 Kg Ready To Eat Gulab Jamun
Gits ‘open and eat’ Gulab Jamuns are hands down the greatest I’ve ever had. These soft and delicious gulab jamuns are made entirely of Khoya and include no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives. Despite the canned ingredients, the overall texture of this popular Indian treat reminds me of freshly cooked gulab jamuns. GITS deep-fries all of their gulab jamuns in pure cow ghee to give them a fantastic rich flavour. Gulab Jamuns are hot-filled and sealed at high temperatures when they’re made.
This method of packing ensures that the Gulab Jamuns stay fresh for nine months without the use of preservatives. This mouthwatering Indian treat can transform any regular day into something memorable. Simply open the tin-can and eat to get a sample of its tempting flavour.
Gits Ready to Eat Dal Makhani
I’ve always preferred Gits Dal Makhani over the ones served at posh establishments. Gits combines the correct proportions of Bengal gramme, black gramme, and red kidney beans, then carefully reduces them in the tandoor for up to eight hours. The Dal is then seasoned and tempered with exotic Indian spices and light cream. The cooked Dal is then hot-filled into an air-sealed bag that is sterilised at a high temperature to keep the food safe to consume. There are no preservatives or artificial colours used; only the finest ingredients, resulting in a dish that tastes as real as a delectable homemade Makhani.
Except that this one is lightweight and easy to carry while travelling. Dal Makhani from Gits comes in a 300 g packet with enough food for two serves. To prepare, boil the unopened pouch for five minutes, then remove, cut, and serve. Remove the contents and place them in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 2 minutes. With a scoop of desi ghee, serve the thick fragrant Dal Makhani. For the price, the quality and quantity are excellent!
Gits Soan Papdi Half Kg
Soan Papdi is a renowned Indian dish that is enjoyed throughout the year in India. The texture of this very flaky, cube-shaped delicacy, is crispy and furfuraceous. This delicacy was once sold loose in a rolled paper cone, but in recent years, demand has shifted to firmly moulded cubes. The Gits Half Kg bundle includes mouth-watering Soan Papdi cubes that are delicious and have no preservatives, colours, or artificial flavours. Very tasty, almost melts in your tongue. This Soan Papdi is a sweet tooth’s delight, and it’s good value for money. This dish also has a six-month shelf life, which makes it a popular choice.
Gits Gulab Jamun Instant Mix
Gulab Jamun is an Indian sweet dish created from a dried milk and wheat flour combination. The soft and delectable Jamuns are rolled into balls, fried, soaked in sweetened syrup, and garnished with saffron strands before being served. Gits Gulab Jamun Instant Mix is the ideal combination of ingredients. To prepare Gits Gulab Jamun with the instant mix, pour the ingredients (powder) into a large mixing bowl, add water, and knead the dough until smooth. Roll out the dough into balls once it’s ready. Fry the Jamuns (balls) and soak them in rose sugar syrup before serving. Enjoy as each mouthful melts into your lips, garnished with saffron. Gits Gulab Jamun Instant Mix is a completely vegetarian product that has no artificial flavours or colours.
Gits Rabdi Instant Mix
In three simple steps, Gits Rabdi Instant Mix allows you to enjoy the flavour of a delectable and wonderful Indian delicacy. Bring full-fat milk to a boil, then whisk in Gits Rabdi Instant Mix powder and wait for the liquid to decrease to one-fourth of its original volume. Full-fat milk and a steady reduction of the water content to obtain a thick consistency are the keys to a creamy Rabri. I used whole milk to make the Rabri, and it turned out precisely as I had hoped. Rabri goes well with Jalebi and is traditionally served with a garnish of Pista and saffron.
