Visit Cannes: The Red Carpet Resort Town
My first invitation to Cannes (pronounced “K(ae)n” in French since the “s” at the end is silent) came during my time working for a creative agency. While the creative agency was nominated for an award, I needed to renew my passport, unfortunately overdue. Three years later, the opportunity arose once more, but this time for a brief photo stop as I visited this red carpet resort town on the French Riviera on the way from Barcelona to Monaco.
Cannes, which hosts the annual celebrity festival, merited a halt after a 9-hour road trip. On the surface, this celebrity enclave encircling the Bay of Cannes appears to be richly fringed, with trendy casinos, posh boutiques, sandy beaches, luxurious hotels, and some of the world’s best driving roads. Expect to see a slew of high-end vehicles on the road. (Even in Monaco) Cannes is that city that tells us that we need to labour till pricey becomes inexpensive.
