Table of Contents
Kesar Pista Makhan at Gulab Chand Dairy
One of Jaipur’s most well-known Makhan stores is just a short stroll from the Govind Dev Ji Temple. And no, this isn’t your typical butter; rather, it’s a dessert made entirely of butter with a dry fruit infusion. I had never eaten anything like it before, and the fact that the saffron-pistachio-flavoured Makhan was served on a dried leaf added to the experience for me.
You will find three mouthwatering regional specialities cooked with butter here; Sada (simple) Makhan, Kesar Pista Makhan, and Butter Delight. However, the shop also sells delectable Shri Khand, Chaas, Lassi, Butter sandwiches, Khaman Dhokla, Kesar Rabdi, and fruit creams. The range of prices is from Rs. 10 and Rs. 50.

Hing & Dahi Kachori at Puran Ji
Along with other factors, Jaipur is one of the best towns in the world known for its delectable street cuisine. Kachori is one such delicacy that is virtually synonymous with the city! So on our recent trip to Jaipur, we decided to uncover a hidden gem that has been around for a long time. Since 1963, the Puran Ji Kachori Wala business has been operating here, and their third generation now prepares and serves the renowned, top-notch Hing Kachoris of Jaipur.
For a reasonable price, the best Hing and Dahi Kachori in Jaipur can be tasted at Puran Ji, which is close to Mohan Tailors on the Choda Rasta road. Visitors from all over the world like this unusual concoction of Asafoetida and curd as much as the locals do. This shop will always be crowded with customers eager to consume as many kachoris as possible when you arrive. According to the family, the filling for these kachoris is made using moong daal and Hing, which improves the entire flavour.

Laxmi Misthan Bhandar, Jaipur
The Lakshmi Misthan Bhandar (LMB) is a well-known confectionery that opened its doors in Johari Bazar in the heart of Jaipur in 1727. The hotel is said to be the state’s first three-star establishment. Today, it is most known for its sweet shop, which offers regional foods and conventional sweets like Paneer Ghewar and sweet lassi. When Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber, founded the new capital city of Jaipur, he invited traders from nearby towns to the newly built city. Among them was a group of Halwais who opened this small sweet shop in Johri Bazaar some 300 years back.
This location is more interesting because of its legend. Years later, in 1950, one of these Halwais’ named this confectionary the Lakshmi Mishthan Bhandar (LMB). The restaurant now only serves vegetarian fare and is well-known for its Kulfi, Dal Bati Churma, and Rajasthani thali.

Lassi at Lassiwala
Don’t leave Jaipur until you have tried a glass of lassi from the Lassiwala (original) shop. The store was the first of its sort in Jaipur when it was established by Kishanlal Agarwal in 1944. And the restaurant unquestionably serves the greatest lassi in Jaipur even as of right now. I’ve tasted their extremely refreshing sweet lassi, which is delicious and topped with malai. If you’re hungry, you should also order their incredibly delicious Chole Bhature. Over the 76 years, there is no change in the quality. The only glitch is that this Lassi shop operates only between 7 am to 4 pm.
Ghanshyam Agarwal says that the curd goes bad by nightfall, but there is also no longer any lassi available for sale at that time. What is amazing about this wildly popular drink is that it is created with only curd and ice and is devoid of water. It comes in “kulhads” of 200 ML (Rs. 30) and 400 ML (Rs. 60). These kulhads, which are covered with thread and butter paper, up the fun factor even more. The store now offers a sugar-free version of the well-known beverage in addition to the sweet and salted varieties. Some of the most ardent supporters of this “lassi” include well-known celebrities including Amitabh Bacchan, Mukesh Ambani, and Dimple Kapadia.
