Green Bee Eater in India
This little, gorgeous Green Bee Eater was spotted on a roadside electrical line, making a cheery contact call to its fellow birds. This spectacular bird is an aerial acrobat, using its pole to snare winged insects. It has a slim, long beak, black gorget, red eyes, lengthened central tail feathers, and blue cheeks. A Green Bee Eater travels across parks, countryside, lakes, and dry forests, frequently nesting in tunnels excavated in earth mounds.
Bee Eaters diverge into three genera, and 27 species with the majority of them found in Asia, Africa, Australia, southern Europe, and New Guinea. I was fortunate enough to see this bird at my parents’ home, which, by God’s grace, is surrounded by beautiful greenery and frequented by unusual birds, Iguanas, and other wildlife.
