Pune International Airport: Arrival and Departure
Instant adrenaline kicked in as I flew over the Purna and Gautala wildlife sanctuaries in Northern India, amplifying the thought of approaching Pune, a new destination. Army headquarters, historical memorials, academic institutions, and Maharashtra’s most thriving business centres are all found in this Western India’s second-largest city. Only from above can you see how beautifully Pune is shrouded in the arms of the calming Sahyadri mountain range. The sight that invites you to delve into every nook and cranny of its existence.
The pilot’s landing announcement sped up my excitement before I could collect my thoughts. We descended from the heights, featuring grand landscapes to a runway that nudged a series of synchronised arches and city lights. Before stepping off the plane, we were informed that professional photography is not permitted at Pune airport due to its proximity to a military base.
Pune International Airport appears to be a small airfield that serves a few national and international flights. Unlike Mumbai airports, Pune airspace is simple to navigate because there isn’t much to see. This is true for both arrivals and departure. Fewer flights arrive at this airbase because there are so few luggage belts.
For domestic passengers departing from Pune airport, there is a decent waiting lounge and food court. International passengers, on the other hand, have access to a special lounge and services designed for global departures. The staff directed me on my way out of the airport when I arrived. And before I boarded the plane to leave Pune, I was given my gate number and the location of the waiting area. Please keep in mind that this is a quiet airport, so it’s best to get a seat close to your assigned gate number. Both the airline and the airport staff appeared to be friendly and courteous in my experience.
