Flying From Stockholm Arlanda Airport
Sweden is the geographical centre of Scandinavia! And, more often than not, I’m asked about my trip to this stunning Nordic country. As a result, I chose to initiate my sightseeing chapters with a departure narrative from Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport. My next stop was Bergen, but I had to travel through Oslo to get there. As my flight was supposed to depart at three o’clock, I arrived at the Arlanda airport at 12 o’clock.
At first glimpse, all I could see was the colossal airport wonder-tower, complete with a brilliantly twisted elliptical top. My sighting was aided by a magnificent sky view in the background, which I could see from the parking lot.

Flying From Stockholm Arlanda Airport
I was ecstatic to be here because Stockholm Airport has won honours for its creative environmental measures year after year. I breezed through the preliminary check and was soon inside Sweden’s largest and most opulent airport. Although, on this particular day, I was just another of the 25 mn travellers that pass through this airport each year. The airport’s name comes from “Arland,” a former name for the airport’s location.
The airport is a massive network with many different offerings and huge glass passageways and ceilings. I got my boarding pass at the automated check-in desks before heading to the luggage line. As it turned out, I was flying SAS, and as such, my check-in procedure went off without a hitch. SAS is known across the world for its great service, and in my opinion, they are the best airline I’ve ever travelled. I had an hour or so before the plane took off, so I decided to grab a cup of coffee at Starbucks while I worked out the rest.
Stockholm Airport
In a conversation with a Starbucks employee, I learnt that Stockholm Airport has two banks, three currency-exchange outlets, 50 shops, 40 restaurants, and plenty of souvenirs and bookstores. He suggested that before taking off, I must try one of the dishes from the Scandinavian Andersson Food & Akvavit restaurant. The restaurant specializes in crafting, exquisite miniature dishes by award-winning Swedish Chef Leif Mannerstrom. For a contrasting burst of flavours, hit up the Swedish street food on display by Chef Marcus Samuelsson.
The internet speed of free Wi-Fi was a huge assistance throughout. My adrenaline is usually rekindled when I go shopping. However, my phone batteries had fully depleted by the time I finished shopping. I didn’t have to move an inch to charge my phone thanks to the charging outlets affixed to the chairs.
Flying SAS from Stockholm Airport
At the airport, SAS has two VIP lounges. However, only regular SAS fliers with Gold membership have access to this VIP section. Gold members should wait in the SAS Business Lounge, while others should wait in the Scandinavian Lounge. (Both may be found at Terminal 5) I boarded the plane soon after and found myself ascending higher into the boundless abode of clouds, pelting away from sassy faraway islands.
